Franci Virgili is a graphic designer living and working in Brooklyn, New York.
„My work circulates around playing with the universality of design elements and their versatility. The question whether a “toolbox” is something that can be established and used in different contexts, depending on content, is what I am exploring. Oftentimes, I am using the metaphor of an actor, or a ventriloquist, which helps me to speak through characters, and over time those characters became literal anthropomorphised objects that are speaking. This practice has been a red thread in my work and now that I left school (I just recently graduated with my mfa from yale school of art) and I am about to start a practice in New York, I am looking forward to playing out those tensions in collaboration with clients and commissioners.”
