Shipping costs

General information:
  • the shipping costs need to be stated

  • if you prefer to use insured shipping for your items, please state shipping costs including insurance costs

  • shipping costs for option „self-collector“ refer to packaging costs etc.

Customs

General information:
  • Customs are always charged as import duties and need to be carried by the importer

  • In addition to the import duties there are import sales/purchases taxes for each country

  • trade within the EU is free of customs and import sales/purchases taxes

  • customs and import sales/purchases taxes vary from country to country

  • there are different regulations on tax allowances in each country

Procedure:
  • If goods are being imported into a country, the necessary papers need to be enclosed in order for customs to recognise their value

  • Customs will address the importer and charge customs and import sales/purchases taxes (please note: a company importing goods can claim back import sales/purchases taxes from the tax authorities;

  • Some dispatch service providers (e.g. Post, DHL, Fedex, UPS etc.) offer to cover customs and import sales/purchases taxes as a special service (thus accelerating the process) and advance the funds to the authorities. They then charge the fees to the importer.

Where can I get information on customs and import sales/purchases taxes of the respective countries?
  • at the customs authorities of the respective countries (e.g. for Germany: www.zoll.de)

  • at the following companies offering international services and information on customs and import sales/purchases taxes for each country
    Note: Please also take into consideration the national postal services of the respective country.
    (Select the country you want to send goods to on the respective website of the service provider and read the information on applicable customs regulation)

Important: When shipping internationally, you need to take into consideration the customs and import sales/purchases taxes of the respective countries. The importer needs to get information on procedures, obligations etc. at the competent authorities.
